Captain's Log: Day 1 at Sea. Great White Sharks are Partial to AC/DC

Captain's Log: Day 1 at sea, 0400 hours. Mission accomplished. I've met people my own age! Victory is mine! Virtual high five's all around. After last night's dinner it was looking highly uncertain whether I'd eventually meet anyone under the age of 60. However, things are now looking up! Became acquainted with two very nice couples, one from England, one from Canada this afternoon. Both of which are under the age of 40. Score! Dinner reservations together tonight at the steakhouse onboard the ship (lol as opposed to dinner with the fishes in the open ocean, which may or may not be saved for another evening...). What we've learned thus far is that Canadians and English are much friendlier than New Yorkers. Alert the press folks, this is breaking news! In other news, we have learned that apparently, in Australia, eco-friendly shark cage excursions do NOT use bait, blood, chum or anything of the sort to attract Jaws to your cage. You know what they DO use? Music. And not just ANY music. AC/DC. Yep, that's right. Apparently great white sharks are attracted to AC/DC when played underwater. Which I find funny. So, if you don't know...now you know. Over and out for now. More updates to follow.

Bon Voyage. Cruising to the land down under...it's ONE way to get there...Australia or Bust!

Step one. Escape from Alcatraz. Step two. Flee the country. To Australia?  Why not?  Apparently they like US citizens.  And for real too, not just on Facebook.
As I prepare to embark from San Fran on epic journey to Australia, some final parting thoughts come to mind...Such as: was it a mistake to book a 27 night cruise to the land down under?  I mean, after my first buffet experience on the ship is it possible NOT to gain 20 pounds with all this food?  Only time will tell. Another concern...yours truly MAY in fact be the youngest passenger on this ship by at least 20 years. Hmmmm. Whelp nothing wrong with hanging those of the older generation persuasion. Not sure they will get me...but then again...there are quite a few gen X'ers who don't get me either. So who cares?  Ready or not, we're OFF to a life at sea for the foreseeable future. I just hope the south pacific is ready for our arrival. Australia or bust!

Pelican Brief. In Monterey Bay. A Three Hour Tour

Whelp we didn't see any whales on the whale watching expedition gone awry. But we DID see some pelicans. So we got that going for us, which is nice.   Another bonus: we didn't get stranded on an island on THIS three hour tour. So we also have that going for us. Also nice.

Fishermans Paradise. Monterey Bay, CA

Been spending most of our lives livin in a fishermans paradise. In Monterey Bay, that is.  Tres coolio! And this guy's the coolest fisherman/jeweler around if I have anything to say about it (which I do, cause its my blog)

A lovely view from his boat.
